Got any Cubism or Impressionism?

May 2, 2012

Today’s idea will help art teachers build community in the classroom while allowing students to express their individual viewpoints as artists.

Students at Becker Middle School created artist trading cards. While learning about color, line, and texture, they created 2.5 by 3.5 inch cards to showcase elements of art as well as their own artistic skill and voice. Students were allowed to choose any tool and any media to create the cards; they could be very simple or very detailed.

Read more about the history of artist trading cards and about this particular project at Art at Becker Middle School– it is a fantastic blog with lots of neat lesson ideas for art or general education classroom teachers.
