Yoga see, yoga do

November 14, 2011

Today I was just browsing other sites on WordPress and stumbled upon this great yoga site called Omazing Kids. There are many great tips on this site so even if you are not a physical education teacher, you may want to check it out. I think teachers of young children would find many ideas as would any educator interested in incorporating more movement into the day or in teaching all students strategies for becoming calm and centered.

The neat differentiation tip I am highlighting is how to use visual supports in the context of a yoga lesson. The examples are great and it is clear to see how these would help not only students with disabilities but also any visual learner or newcomer to yoga.

Oh my! I just realized who you are Paula ….. I have and LOVE all your books! My passion for working with kids with ASD is what lead me down the path of kids yoga about 18 months ago. I will be doing a presentation on therapeutic yoga for kids and teens at the Oklahoma Autism Conference this Saturday. Thanks again for sharing my blog 🙂
