Lights, flip camera, action

Teach Science and Math is such a great resource for K-12 educators. I not only check it regularly but sometimes look back at the archives to see if I have missed anything! This post from August is perfect for this blog because a key piece of differentiation is motivating learners. Using video in the classroom-especially in these clever ways-would undoubtedly keep students engaged. In addition, it can help many students understand complex concepts and extend their learning.

These videos are also rich tools for assessment. Some students do not perform well on tests and on paper/pencil work, in general. By using capturing demonstrations and drama educators will likely find that some learners “show up” looking more competent and complex than they do in more traditional lessons. And for students who need to study or review more often than others, a quick repeat of the key concepts is available by simply hitting PLAY.
